The LISD Athletic Office hosted the Triple A awards Ceremony at the LISD PA. The ceremony honored LISD middle and high school student-athletes. The students were recognized for having perfect attendance, straight A’s and a winning attitude. Each student was presented with either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal for their academic achievements.

Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts hosted this month’s Webb County Commissioners Court Meeting the VMT Auditorium. Students for LISD attended the meeting and were given an opportunity to see first-hand the different roles and responsibilities each elected and appointed county official has within the county. After the meeting the Commissioners Court held a Q&A with the students.

LISD hosted a Military Ball for JROTC cadets from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools at the LISD Dr. Marcus Nelson Conference Center.

Our students celebrated Earth Day by turning "trash" into tech! In a special collaboration between Ms. Gomez’s class, our Librarian Ms. Ramirez, and our DLS Mr. Benavides, students used the Library Collaboration Space to engineer custom 3D-printed watering spikes.

Nixon High School senior baseball player Ryan Gaona was awarded the KGNS Player of the Week for his outstanding performance last week on the baseball field. Congratulation Ryan for continuing to set the Gold standard.

As we prepare for this special occasion, we are collecting formal and semiformal gowns for our young ladies and Tuxedos and sports coats and ties for our young men to provide them with memorable attire for their prom night.

To Infinity and Beyond! The Nixon High School library was transformed into the magic of “Toy Story” featuring nostalgic decorations, and vibrant characters in celebration of LISD’s Special Education students.

The LISD Special Education Department held it’s Champions Awards Ceremony recognizing special education students from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools.

The students, who are part of the district’s self-contained units, were honored for exceling in the classroom by being responsible, having good attendance, and being eager to learn.

Thank you to Clear Choice Emergency Room for donating tickets to the San Antonio Spurs vs. Boston Celtics game to the head coaches of our three boys high school basketball teams from Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools and the girls basketball team coach from Cigarroa High School. These four teams made the playoffs and Clear Choice wanted to recognize them for their hard work and dedication. All three of our boys varsity teams made the playoffs - a feat that hadn’t been achieved in 10 years.

Laredo ISD Special Education Department hosted the 2026 Special Olympics Texas Area 21 opening ceremony and games at historic Shirley Field. Special education students from Laredo ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, Webb County Consolidated ISD and Zapata County ISD participated in a variety of events. Each student received a medal for every event they participated in.
